Santa Clara County's Finest Teachers
Honored on Teacher Recognition Day
SAN JOSE--Thirty "Teachers of the Year" from Santa Clara County school districts will be applauded by colleagues and community leaders at the countywide 40th Annual Teacher Recognition Event awards ceremony, Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. at the Heritage Theatre in Campbell. Honorees were selected by their districts for this most prestigious local award given to classroom teachers. The recognition ceremony, presented by the Santa Clara County Office of Education, is the oldest and largest of its kind in California. The honorees include public school teachers of every grade and subject.
The gala ceremony will be co-hosted by Dr. Charles Weis, County Superintendent of Schools, and Jack O'Connell, State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Honorees will be presented with engraved awards, entertained by student performers, and featured in video profiles.
Teacher Recognition Day is co-sponsored by the Santa Clara County Federal Credit Union and National Semiconductor Foundation, with support from the San Jose Mercury News. The SCCOE, Sixth District PTA, and the Santa Clara County School Boards Association provide additional support.
