Santa Clara County's Finest Teachers
Honored on Teacher Recognition Day
SAN JOSE--Thirty "Teachers
of the Year" from Santa Clara County school districts will be applauded by
colleagues and community leaders at the countywide 39th Annual Teacher
Recognition Day awards ceremony, Monday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Heritage
Theatre in Campbell. View list of teachers.
Honorees were selected by their districts for the most prestigious local
award given to classroom teachers. The recognition ceremony, presented by the
Santa Clara County Office of Education, is the oldest and largest of its kind in
California.
The 2008 honorees include public school teachers of every grade from
kindergarten through high school. Five have been in the classroom for less than
10 years; eight for more than 30 years.
The gala ceremony will be co-hosted by Charles Weis, County Superintendent of
Schools, and Carl Guardino, president and CEO of Silicon Valley Leadership
Group. Honorees will be presented with engraved awards, entertained by student
performers, and featured in video profiles.
