'Pasta Bowl' Raises Donations for ffl
"Pasta Bowl II," the Aug. 2 charity dinner at which members of the San
Francisco 49ers served as celebrity waiters and dinners guests, included fit
for learning™ in the programs that were recipients of the fund-raising
activities this year.
The event, co-sponsored by the 49ers and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group,
raised $25,000 for fit for learning. Among those attending were Michelle
Mount, ffl coordinator, and Dr. Charles Weis, Santa Clara County
superintendent of schools.
"Thank you to the San Francisco 49ers and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group
for providing this financial support," Mount said. "The generous donation will
assist with the implementation of the fit for learning Resource Guides.
"Overall, this effort will reinforce the creation of school environments that
promote healthy nutrition and physical activities for children throughout Santa
Clara County."
This was the second year of the charity event, which took place at the Santa
Clara Convention Center. Other recipients of the proceeds included San Jose
After-School All-Stars, Santa Clara Schools Foundation, City Year San
Jose/Silicon Valley and Fresh Lifelines for Youth.
