History Day Competition Winners

SAN JOSE, CA – About 130 students from 10 Santa Clara County schools competed over the weekend in “History Day,” an educational program devoted to improving the teaching and learning of history in Santa Clara County.

The program enables students to study historical issues, ideas, people and events by engaging in historical research. The theme for this year’s event, which was held at History Park, was titled, “The Individual in History: Actions and Legacies.”

Teachers and community members judged the competition. History Day’s sponsors include the Santa Clara County Office of Education and San Jose State University, with Silicon Valley History Online, which includes History San José. The winners and their schools:
