LPC 3 Year Goals & Sub-Committees
THREE YEAR GOALS: January 2011 through December 2013
ADVOCACY
The LPC will advocate for local, state, and national legislation in order to positively impact the quality of services to Santa Clara County children and their families
WORKFORCE
The LPC will actively support training, mentoring and workforce retention programs that improve teacher qualifications and teacher effectiveness
QUALITY
The LPC will support efforts to improve the quality of care for children birth to age 12 that support the foundations of healthy child development and school success
SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT
The LPC will regularly review our operational effectiveness to continually improve our systems.
LPC Co-Chairs: Lori Burns & Larry Drury
- Professional Development Sub-Committee: This Sub-Committee actively supports training, mentoring, and workforce retention programs that improve teacher qualifications and teacher effectiveness. Co-Chairs: George Philipp & Sheryll Ebbs
- Community Needs Assessment Sub-Committee: This Sub-Committee describes the state of child care and ECE in Santa Clara County highlighting quality, access, and affordability. This includes the formal assessment of community childcare needs due every 5 years, development of the annual list of priority zip codes and periodic review of early education and before/afterschool programs funded by California Department of Education and California Department of Social services. Co-Chairs: Mimi Munoz & Lori Burns
- Legislative and Advocacy: Informs and makes recommendations regarding current state and national legislation that affects children and their families. Reviews current state/federal legislation related to Early Care and Education and recommends action. Chairs: René Ramirez and Tyson Jue
- Champions for all Children Sub-Committee: This Sub-Committee coordinates activities of the LPC to champion improved quality and accessibility of care for all children to support the foundations of healthy child development, inclusive services, and school success. We will also identify current community climate and its impact on quality services for the diverse needs of all children Birth to Age 12 in Santa Clara County and make recommendations to the LPC for sub-committee work. Included under the auspice of this Sub-Committee is the Inclusion Collaborative. Co-Chairs: Cathy Andrade & Toby Librande
